I am trying to find the best banana bread recipe out there. Looking for that recipe that was written down on a napkin many moons ago or the recipe you stumbled upon recently. Anything works it just must be the best. I have found myself in a B-Bread bake-off and I am cruxing out.

ok, but you have to admit it would be a pretty sweet route name..

in any case, i don't know the exact recipe my wife uses, but 2 useful tips that  know she does: 1) she only uses browned bananas and 2) adds chocolate chips.

It would be redacted in minutes as a blatant microaggression against gluten-free folks.

The best is in Bernard Clayton's "Complete Book of Breads" in the charming "Road to Hana" section.  But I'm not copying someone else's work on to MP... gotta buy the guidebook yourself for a change.

I've had success with this recipe from King Arthur in the past. In line with Curt's comment, I also usually add a bunch of chocolate chips. Like at least a cup, you want to add enough that you question whether the dough will have enough strength to support itself around all of the chocolate.

Edit: If you want to spice it up, you could also add some combination of: grated ginger, clove, cardamom, red chile (especially if any New Mexicans are judging).

I have no idea what you mean by "best." If you mean nutritionally best, it's probably hard to beat the recipe in the Feed Zone Cookbook; Climbing published it, too. If you mean best pure banana flavor, with no eggs or wheat flour added, this just came in from 177 Milk Street: Liberian Banana Rice Bread. Fresh ginger root alert!

Despite the fact that this thread is about banana bread and not climbing, it's still better than 99% of the threads in here

You realize she joined two years ago? That wouldn't qualify as "just joined" to many people. A bread recipe request is strange for a climbing website.

I'd call it resourceful.

My favorite is the "New Moosewood Cookbook" recipe, do not skip the sesame seeds.

Forget banana bread. Look up Banana Foster Bread. Use DARK rum.
