Evolv General Sizing

Does anyone have any recommendations for how to size evolv generals? LS hasn’t restocked the new TC pros for over a month now, and I’m tired of waiting. I’ve heard really good things about the general’s edging and precision and have decided to go with a pair of those.

However, I can’t figure out the sizing I should go for. If I wear a comfortable 41.5 in TC’s and 41 in aggressive scarpas, what size should I go for in the general? I’m not looking for extreme comfort - ideally not so painful that I’ll feel like I’ve got to take them off halfway through a pitch, but also small enough where I can feel really precise while edging. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

they take a long, uncomfortable day to break in. I wear 41 in comfy TC, and 42.5 in General

Generals didn't really work for me, but I only put 3-5 pitches into a demo pair. Similar lack of confidence.

As the TC pros will handle a wider range of sizing I think comparing to steet shoe is a better ask. I wear a street US 11.5, Shaman/Phantom 11s, General 12. TCs in a 43.5 fwiw. Size and a half up makes sense. I'd go for the Evolv Rave or Geshido tbh. Those fit closer to street with the Rave taking a slight downsize.

I don't know my sizing in La Sportiva. How do Generals compare to your street shoes? or to Scarpa?

I wear 42EU TC that are tight initially then comfortable for all day. I wore 44EU generals but ended up selling them due to lack of performance. They edged okay but nothing like the TC, rubber never really "broke in" and I constantly slipped off holds, and overall fit like a clunky hiking boot. Wasn't a fan of the padding on the toe because it made jamming anything smaller than a #2 camalot more difficult, max jam was #1 but never felt super secure. I will give the shoe comfort, it was super nice on the foot and the split tongue design is great.

Agree with pretty much everything quoted above.

I really wanted to like this shoe (I even got them resoled for the same reasons the above poster mentioned). but, nope: They're just so ... clunky. Grandstones ended up being my jam.

Positive: These shoes are burly! I've been wearing them for three-ish years (though sparingly these days) and they're still in great shape. A very well-made shoe.

Sizing: I wear 10.5 in most shoes, the 11.5 General fits, but is actually still a little tight three years later somehow.

I'd agree with what was said above.  I use Mountain Footwear Project to compare sizes and it's been very accurate for me.  My benchmark shoes were the TC PRO and Scarpa Instinct VS and it translated well to Evolv.

44.5 TC pro to 12 General was spot on for me. I ended up settling on Acopa JB in 11.5 but the General is a great shoe

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
