Adventure Sports Dating App
|
Hey all - I’m looking to get some feedback on an idea. I’ve noticed that something lacking in the adventure sports community is a great dating platform. I know that there are some outdoors focused dating platforms out there, though none seem to have really taken off. I also know that some folks use facebook/mountain project for this type of thing but that doesn’t have the mutual opt-in component of a dating app. Specific questions for feedback:
I’ve bounced the idea off of a number of folks but am looking for some broader candid feedback on whether folks think there is a big enough pain point here for this to take off and bring value. Thanks!! |

On the other available dating apps, people often put their outdoors hobbies, and pictures of them doing said activities. The matching algorithms also try to connect people based on their “outdoor activities and hobbies” I don’t think an exclusive outdoor app would pull users from the other apps. At the end of the day, by default, dating profiles and more importantly relationships go beyond outdoor activities. I’ve gotten laid from dating apps. (And then cried when they ghosted me) I’ve met climbing partners on dating apps. I’m now married to someone who I met on a dating app. I can’t think of anything I’d get or need from an exclusive outdoor dating app. Best of luck. Have fun and be safe. |

Everyone post their dating app profiles and then let the MP community judge how belayable you are. |

There is already a dating app for climbers called Boulder, its a cool concept but it currently sucks because there's only about 6 users on it. |

petzl logic wrote: Woke dating apps are hard to find so Grindr was an obvious second choice. Tinder is too mainstream. And, why take the chance that heterosexual climbers who prefer sex over dating might be offended? Grindr is a hookup app. Classy. Does anyone care if it's a "gay" app? Could have used 3Somer, FetLife, or FarmersOnly but Grindr won out. Next to Jack'd, it has the best name in the skin game. Doesn't get any classier than that. |

This seems like the most desperate plea for me, Stefan. I am already married so maybe in another life I’ll use your app and we can find each other! If your a puppy that changes things! |

It's a runout. |

As mentioned in previous posts, it’s already out there. One nationwide example is Fitness Singles but there are plenty of more locally focused groups as well, often specific to a singular sport such as climbing. |
