non-cotton Rab climbing pants
|
Can anyone recommend something from Rab that is similar to the Patagonia RPS rock pant? The RPS is the lightweight, synthetic, pant that seems to be super durable. I have a pair and love them. I really like Rab and wanted to see if they had anything similar. I'm not looking for anything cotton, not my taste. Thanks! |

the torque light sucks. they have a shitty elastic waist band with no belt loops. (i ended up sewing some on so my pants wouldn't fall down if i had anything in my pockets). the inside of the pants have some sort of fabric texture that grabs every single piece of dry skin on you feet. it's like velcro trying to stick to your feet. i would also not call the material durable. these pants are really unfortunate - there are some nice things about them, but the things that suck really stand out the most. The BD alpine light is ~ok, but they only make them in fairly dark colors which isn't great when it is warm out. i like the regular BD alpine (ie not light) but they are, well, not very light. I also have a couple pairs of the OR something or other that is nice and light, light colored, but unfortunately has pockets that a 4 year old couldn't get their hand into. not very durable either. let us know if you find something, i am definitely curious. |

Kühl makes some dope pants and shorts. Even hold up to sharp limestone. |

Cheek out the Rab Stryker. I'll sell ya a pair if your size is 32". |

I know everyone disses the Prana Stretch Zion, but they fit me perfectly, are robust enough for everything except OW, and don't smell after a couple days in the backcountry. I love the built in belt, the phone pocket, and the ability to roll the leg up and snap into place. |

I will check out the Stryker. I own two pairs of Zions for just those reasons. They’re awesome too, but can be a little heavy for Tuolumne in the summer. The Patagonia RPS has been my go to for warm days. I’m looking specifically at Rab because I lucked into a coupon code and need another pair of pants. |

Buck Rio wrote: The OR Ferrosi is seriously lacking in durability though. I torn a hole in the left knee within the first year, not even from climbing, but simply from walking into some bushes to go pee. The torn pattern has very straight edges, making an exact right angle, so I think it has something to do with the type of fabric that is used. |
