Anyone have any experience with these? Literally any kind. They look solid but the sole is definitely of lesser quality then vibram. I have some tx4s and wanna see how they compare.

I have the BD tag shoes as well as the sportiva TX 2. Sportiva feels higher quality to me but the Bd still fill a niche for me. The BD are lighter and pack well in addition to being comfortable to wear without socks. The foldable heel is nice too between belays. So I’m happy owning both. But if sportiva made a similar shoe to the BD tag I would probably do sportiva instead
I use the tag mainly for short approaches to hard stuff where I want to carry a light shoe on route and or want something easy to slip on between climbs for single pitch.
The tx 2 hikes and climbs better for bigger objectives.
I was jazzed at first about the BD approach shoes. Having a narrow foot the Technician looked great. However they run VERY small. I sized up a whole size and then had to size up another half.
I wore them for a 15 mile hike a month ago and am still dealing with the blisters they raised in my heels. They also have a very tight tongue that is sewn in which I normally like but these are too tight and make lacing them comfortably a difficult proposition.
After that hike and two or three short approaches and one three pitch climb in them they have some sole separation already and a hole in the lateral toe box area.
Maybe BD can figure out footwear with their approach shoes or maybe it’ll be a flop for them like their ski boots were.
