Taz Lov 2 used for solo lead climbing

Hi, do anyone use Taz Lov 2 for solo lead climbing? I think it is similar to grigri which used for solo lead climbing, but I haven't try it.

The price would steer me away, if I wanted to add a progress capture that could rappel to my top rope solo setup, it would be a gri gri

I LRS and TRS on my Taz Lov2. Having used a GriGri, an Eddy, a Goblin, A Revo and an ISC Rocker, the Lov2 is best for LRS in my opinion. I now only climb socially and do all my real climbing alone.

There's a photo on here somewhere of Sigrips setup of a Lov2 for LRS. I do it like this, with swivel on the attachment point and a pulley on my chest rig. The build quality is exceptional. I believe Taz are very committed company. It's a French company and I wish their translations were better. So, in short, it's currently the most suitable device IMO. Remember, the device is only a part of LRS, you need to get all of the systemic elements dialed in.

Anyone buying a Taz Lov device right now will have the option of a Lov2 and Lov3. The Lov3 offers some new convenience with how it is attaches, but at the cost of robustness. That's a problem for my. In TRS you can add layers of redundancy with an additional device, a second rope, backup knots etc., but in LRS the second rope and a second device are not tenable. For that reason, the Lov2 wins due to its robustness YMMV.

Can you Noel post a picture of the setup with the Taz please? 

Yes, I use a taz Lov 2 with a Revo backup and it's awesome. Can't recommend it enough.

My Taz is a Lov2. My backup consists of knots. The Taz itself is really great, the backup not so much. Ricky is using a Revo backup. I'd like to see that.

My setup is the same as the photo at the top of the thread, but the actual hardware and means of attachment change depending on what I have with me and what I'm testing out. I sew too, so my chest harness is differnt and changes from time to time. I have a box full of them. The red Petzl chest harness is fine. I don't bother with a pully or swivel any longer, but I do use a chest harness and route the rope through a small Petzl carabiner where the pulley would be. I attach to the Taz with a Petzl B'md. The B'md has a Petzl Tanga restricter on the shaft to keep the carabiner in the carabiner's basket. The B'md's gate is bomber. Regarding a swivel, by leaning back a bit and rotating the Taz to the side, I am able to rappel easily without a swivel. When I rappel alone under tricky conditions I sometimes clove the rappel rope at one or two points directly to my harness which I undo going down.  

Looks like there's a lot of people thinking about solo climbing today!

Where have you all bought the Lov2/3? Seems like none of the usual US-centric gear shops carry it. I can find it on a few different sites but I have no idea how legit they are.

Got my lov2 from treestuff.com but I only see 3 on their website now
