Dating Apps for Dirtbags/Nomads
|
A friend sent me an article highlighting the various apps out there geared more toward "nomadic" living styles because lets face it, as soon as you say "I live in a pop-up camper (van, car, schoolie)" you see the lust in their eyes die. Why is it so hard to date when you think "dirtbag" is a compliment? Here are the apps and with them I hope we all get a little closer to finding our forever belay partners... Nomad Soulmates- facebook group for remote workers and nomads to date and connect Sēkr- app used for finding resources on the road but known to be the "tinder of vanlife" Fairytrail- new app launched in 2019 with 20,000 users. As with any online dating, be careful meeting strangers from the internet. https://www.theverge.com/22639630/vanlife-dating-apps-tinder-fairytrail |

"Forever" is overrated, imo. ;-) EDIT to add, Hi Frank!! |

if you are nomadic it seems to reason that simply being out and living your life that way will put some potentially great matches right there in front of you. dating apps are for city living and a non-nomadic lifestyle in my opinion |

Atleast an app allows someone to cover all at important outright and saves time and energy when meeting someone. Apps arent for everyone and there is something to be said about doing it the old fashioned way |

I know 2 couples that met while doing the nomadic thing and they caravan together. Hitting up nomadic festivals seems like a great way to meet people. If I were single and met another climber willing to travel around to the premier spots and chase the warm weather, it would be game, set, match. |

I think there would be a fundamental issue with long term priorities using a nomadic dating app. I can count on my hand the number of people I have met that were nomads long term (over 10 years). Far more often, I meet people that loved van life for 3 months, it was okay for 6 more months and then they really wanted to not be nomadic anymore after a year. You would get a lot of people that identify as nomads that end up actually not being nomadic and that would be problematic. You can also date non nomadic people, some people work 1 week on 1 week off which is often viable. My wife doesn't even climb but I still climb a horrific amount. But if you wanna use an app, that is cool too I suppose. |

We could even filter on grades and experience level. Social media and dating apps are both the worst is what I am getting at here. Thank you for listening to my Ted talk |
