Anyone have any promo codes or discount codes for backcountry.com? Trying to purchase an item that os seemingly only in stock on their website. Thanks!

Step 1: start posting topless climbing pictures on social media. Make sure they have witty captions and hashtags. You won't need to climb harder than 5.8, but it wouldn't hurt your chances if you do.

Step 2: be an attractive human.

Step 3: become an influencer.

Step 4: you're an influencer, now Backcountry will give you free shit.

Backcountry gives a 15% discount to AAC members. They have never once asked me for any proof of membership. There is not a code to enter, but a gearjunky will apply the discount to the order if you open a chat.

I am a member, but don’t think it’s unethical to take advantage of this. I only shop from backcountry if they have something I can’t find anywhere else, which sounds like the same situation you’re in. Backcountry sucks.

I worked at Backcountry for a bit as a contractor. I purchase my gear from every one else.

Yeah, there’s a whole thread on this. I’ve found those notes and will be reviewing prior to purchase

Unfortunately, as I mentioned, they are the only ones carrying an item I would like to purchase

There’s a whole movement for a couple years now to boycott Backcountry for suing every single mom and pop, gear store, coffee shop, or artist that used the word backcountry either before or after them.  Trying to control “backcountry “ as their brand. FT.  Never buy from them again

I make it a policy to not bad mouth former employers. What I will say is that I didn't like how they treated their employees and the distinct class system that existed. Add in the relatively massive turnover - and not just among the gear heads and warehouse workers - and that, regarding corporate full time staff, they seemed like a bunch of college kids not knowing what they want but they keep looking.

I left feeling rather disillusioned about what had seemed to be a cool company.

Disclaimer: this was several years ago, under a different CEO and before the remaining founder left day-to-day operations. It may well be very different now.

Sounds like a retail organization to me.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
