Water on the Grand Teton?

Anybody know what the run off situation is like this year? First time up in a week or so and I am wondering about how much water I need to bring for a night or two up there. Hopefully get a permit for the lower saddle as we want to get on the full exum.

Once above tree line your can fill up at almost any stream, at least that’s what I’ve been doing the past couple weeks and I’m just fine! The lower saddle has a small hose that runs off the spring up there. I like having a 3L bladder with me. Might be overkill but I’m never thirsty!

There is the very real possibility that the Lower Saddle's water source (for the hose) will run dry before the summer high season is over. Not a super big deal' cause you can always get water from the Middle Teton Glacier, the spring-fed drainage running down from the JHMG's Corbet High Camp, or Spalding Falls' source (before reaching the lower saddle). But, it is nice to have that water source at the Lower Saddle for those who are traveling light.

Great info, thank you. Had no idea about the hose.

Just used the hose at the lower saddle this morning. It’s significantly lower than it was two weeks ago. I’d say it won’t last much longer. Everywhere else was flowing quite well though.

Rain this week will recharge water sources. And with it comes an increase in thunderstorms.

We camped at the moraines two nights ago, there was water a few minutes away. I also saw people getting water at the lower saddle.

Water hose at saddle running at full steam in morning and afternoon. Can change after recent rains evaporate or drain away.

Anyone have info on water sources on the grand traverse?

There is snow on Owen, and usually you can find water this time of year a hundred meters or so below the grandstand, then again at the lower saddle hose.  I can’t speak for the rest of the traverse for water once the snow patches dry up.

JJ got it.

A storm system is going to roll over the Tetons starting Wednesday 7-28 and drop significant moisture for several days according to the forecast (often wrong but this is looking very possible). Unlikely to see snow but hail is certain. Temps remain high so ice buildup seems unlikely. NWS Forecast Discussion

Lower Saddle water hose was dishing out 'dirty' water...literally with dirt,  today in afternoon. A seepage 'waterfall' just 10 ft or so north of the hose had cleaner water. Or bring it with you from the Moraines. The water was probably dirty due to rainfall the other day. Might clear up soon but who knows.
