What is the opposite of Sandbagging?

Is there a word for the act of grading routes harder than they actually are? i.e. a 5.11 climb getting graded a 5.12 |

Feather bagging or sugar bagging |

Red rock grading |

Ego boasting, but really; it's all some random person's opinion. Take it all with a grain of salt. Even the star rating, four star or no stars doesn't really matter. If you think it's harder, it's harder. If you think it's easier than easier. Thank God we have mountain project or else we wouldn't know where to b*tch about petty sh*t |
|
Soft rating is the most common term I've heard. A far second is ego rating. |
|
I don’t know about “ego rating.” Isn’t the greatest ego-crushing indignity to have one’s project downgraded? And isn’t the greatest joy to have one’s enemies flail pathetically on said project? |

Cole Lawrence wrote: Main factor is when the FA was. All of the older FAs in RR are solid for the grade and it's the newer stuff in general that is softer, but basically every climbing area is like this. I bet there is many a person who has spent their first day in RR in the first pullout to get a feel for grades only to then get stomped on climbs out in the canyons. You don't get too many people saying Joe Herbst and Paul Van Betten routes are soft. |

I've always called it featherbagging. A lot of limestone sport in the Austin, TX area has this problem. |
