New BD rope with "1x1" weave...
|
i have a couple older BD ropes with the 1x1 weave and i really like them. they switched over to a 2x2 weave for a few years, but i didn't like them as much. their new rope lineup has several ropes that they advertise as being a 1x1 weave, but when i look at the photos they look like a 2x2 weave, but with some weird offset/asymmetry (see link below and look at closeup photo). am i on drugs here? https://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en_US/product/9-2-climbing-rope/ however, the honnold looks like a typical 1x1 (see link below) https://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en_US/product/9-4-dry-climbing-rope-honnold-edition/ |

The BD ropes have been subpar for the last few years. |

Perhaps the confusion lies in that old BD ropes were relabeled Roca, but the new ones are relabeled Tendon. Perhaps just buy straight from Roca if you like those? |

In the video kolin even calls it a 1x1, but it doesn't look like one to me. |

Single pic sheaths & double pic both have their advantages & disadvantages. |

The two carrier strands are woven in a one on one braid? |

My favorite ropes are the mammut crag 9.5 (formerly Infinity) and the sterling helix, which both appear to have a "2x2" plain weave. |
