PMRP top parking lot now paid parking
|
Heard a rumor, and just curious if anyone knows for sure if this is true. They have been putting in a ton of work, and have every right to do it, just trying to confirm the rumors. Thanks for all the years of free parking! |

The parking at the top of the motherlode hill is now $7. It is owned by a private landowner who decided to build a parking lot there and start charging. The RRGCC was not involved with this and none of the proceeds are going to support the coalition. |

Tis' what i heard. Thanks for confirming. If nothing else, this should help spread out the crowds the coalition has been concerned about. |

It was $7 plus tax a week ago...... |

Wonder how many ill-equipped vehicles will start trying to get down and then back up Lode hill |

Sign says $8 for last couple weeks I have been around. Oh and firewood for $6 |

Yeah it’s currently 10 dollars and the system really just kinda sucks. Super sad to see these private individuals profiting off of restricting access to an amazing climbing area. None of this money is going back into the climbing community to help improve the area. |

Chad Hayden wrote: How are they restricting access to climbing by paying to install a parking lot and making their personal property available for people to use for a fee? The owners could just as easily have chosen to say no trespassing and not allowed parking at all. The money may not go directly to the climbing community, but it is going to the local community in a county that has a poverty rate about 3 times as high as the national average. It may not feel great to pay for something that used to be free, but in the end this could be the start of better relationships between the local community and the climbing community. If the locals see that providing amenities to climbers means money for themselves then we'll start seeing more and more amenities geared towards what we care about. |

Yeah, but the one local who is profiting from the paid lot is one of the richest, if not the richest person in the area. Id love to hear how he gives back to the community, (not the climbing community), because it would make me feel better about handing a multi millionaire more of my money. Free was nice while it lasted. |

mostly seems to me like the road down to the lower parking is gonna get mcblasted by people wanting free parking with their 2wd, no weight in the back tacomas. not sure who maintains that road but I wonder how the cost of maintaining that thing compares to the cost of building that parking lot. |

Oh the horror, no more cars stuck half way up the hill, blocking the 20 cars lined up trying to get out on Saturdays. |
