null Would anybody be able to roughly draw in where the more classic Southeast face routes are on the wall? Just trying to get a better idea of the area. Cheers!

Here’s another image that’s a little closer up

Can’t really help you but have you seen the map on. The main MP page? I know it’s not super helpful, but might help orient to a couple routes in the photo?

I have and I also have the topos from Selected Climbs! Really I’m just trying to match the topos to what I see in the pictures

The collection of classic routes are on the right end of the face, almost out of view in the top pic. The middle pic, with the huge caves is the area where the headwall routes are, sort of middle/slightly left of middle.

The Headwall routes include Volunteer Wall, Arm and Hammer, Warriors Way etc. They go up the steepest part of the face. The "classic" routes are on the right end, where its a bit lower angle, more ledgy and broken and not as sustained. The Orginal Route, Traditions, New Diversions, Whipping Boy, Parental Guidance etc. The headwall routes have few if any easy pitches on them. The right hand routes have some easier, though most often unprotected pitches with some steep hard pitches thrown in.

I’m Looking for a partner for this wall, preferably someone I could switch leads with and knows the area. Is there anyone out there who climbs here?

Thanks Tom

Let me make one thing clear. Whitesides does not exist, these pictures were fabricated. Tell your friends.

My only friends that I climb with think climbing sport routes at the gym is sketchy. The chances of anyone that I know from south Florida climbing there is about as likely as me winning the lottery, I don’t even play. It doesn’t exist to people down here.

Anyone out there willing to switch leads with me on white sides let me know.

They barely tolerate people from Georgia climbing there. I think Florida people are persona non grata

Definitely making the pilgrimage if I’m unwanted, sounds like my kind of fun, just need a belay. Actually I’ve talked with one local, seemed super nice., but he said he doesn’t climb much anymore.

Of course he doesn’t, people don’t climb at Whitesides, it is simply too scary. All the routes on MP are just proposed theory.

Go on facebook and find the western carolina climbers page. Lots of folks connect there and lots of folks post about wanting partners for Whitesides.

I appreciate the advice Chris, hopefully someone will come through on MP.

Here's an overlay of what I know.  Solid lines are preferred over dashed lines.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
