What is the craziest whip of all time?

Could be an interesting sidebar from the "Oh Boy..." thread? The weekend whipped was a dude rolling into a bush so the bar is set pretty low.

Cheers!

The best ones don’t get filmed.

I have a NZ climbing friend. She told me that one time She was “out of rope” while Ice climbing. Was working in a snow picket when the footing gave way and She “went the distance” 150 m !!!

In terms of whips on film, I'd vote for Tommy's fall while working on the Nose speed record.

This is a great one. I don’t know if it’s the best one though. Still awesome!

700 hundred foot free solo slab survivor in Squamish.
1200 hundred foot free solo Eiger fall into a sloping champagne powder steep slope. I’ve whipped 120’ (free fall) on an old 7.8mm single twin. I was wearing crampons and had a full pack on.

The best is in the spool used in the Cliffhanger Film. Still the longest roped fall of all time. The stunt double used to climb at my gym. She was beautiful.

Or a partner that still has a tattoo from an upside down WAY long friction slab slider. He was shirtless & wearing shoulder slings. They literally melted from the friction & are forever burned into him. Colors & all!

Two from the best climbing film ever made, in my opinion:

Dan Osman's intentional flyer in one of the early Stone Masters (?) films, the one where he cut mostly through the draws so they'd rip.

I'd think that the wildest whipper of all time would be the one with the least number of recognizable body parts when it's over.

This one's pretty wild.

I took one once. It was wild, like 1000 feet.

This was one of the first whipper videos I ever stumbled across and think it's a pretty fun one, definitely not top top but a goody nonetheless

My partner took a 150' whip on the north side of the Grand. It would have been longer but I jumped off the other side of the ledge to catch him. He was not on belay and there was only a single piece of gear in.

Another vote for Osman. whole video is great ha ha but 7:18 is the biggest whip.

Watching that kinda creeps me out since that's how he died.

Also, not really a whip imo, but a stunt.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
