Mt. Herman: Bolted lines

I was hiking Mt. Herman this afternoon and from the trailhead, I saw a cliff that looked climbable. I scrambled up there off the main trail and there are some bolted lines that don't seem to be trafficked much. Does anybody know what routes these are? Once again, they're just a short/steep hiking off the main trail. I checked in my South Platte Books and found nothing. I can probably pull a screenshot off google earth if that helps.

Are you talking about the big block on the south east side? I've top rope solo'd the first pitch by rapping down a chimney to the right. The 2nd pitch is on a pillar that would be sketchy to get to from the top. The first pitch was alright but the 2nd looked like more fun. If I remember I don't think the top of the second is bolted because there's a crack. The bolts looked in good shape 2 years ago. If you try, it I'm curious to hear how it goes.

I was able to get to the top and I think it was just one pitch? Maybe I'm wrong. This block appeared to fully bolted, with at least half a dozen sport lines. Here's a photo I snagged from google earth. The red arrow is parking and yellow is the block I am talking about.

I am recovering from shoulder surgery so I've been hiking around looking for stuff to climb. I plan on climbing it later this summer. I will let you know!

Oh I've never noticed those! I was talking about this block on the front side. You can get to it from the same trail. I don't know the story on either, but these routes on this cliff have been there at least a decade.

Hey Matt,

I put up those routes off the trail and the cliff facing I-25. I think I saw that you moved here recently so welcome to the area! I’ll send you a PM and maybe we could meet at O’Malley’s for a beer and I can give you some beta. I’ve lived up here for the last 20 years and have developed a fair bit of obscure stuff up Mt. Herman road. Be happy to climb with you once your shoulder is healed up,

Cheers
