Scarpa boots/shoes seem to fit my feet best.

Just curious out of the crux/gecko/mescalito, which one climbs best?

Can't say about the gecko.

After 8 or 9 years, I am on pair 5 of the cruxes, cause I like them.  I've climbed 10a in them, but only on top rope, cause I'd feel stupid if I fell on lead wearing em.  They make me feel really nice downclimbing 4th class stuff.  My son went through a couple of pairs of the mescalito in highschool, and I don't think I'd want to climb in them.

My 2nd wife used to give me shit for em cause she thought they looked dorky.  I will replace the cruxes when they wear out, but it's lookin' like it might be a while before I feel like I need a wife.

Yeah the cruxes are burl. That's sad to hear about the mescalito, I love the look but you are right that they don't look like they climb well.

Absolutely love the Gecko

My cruxes didn’t last half as long as my Geckos

I had the Crux and hated them, super uncomfortable for me. The tongue sliding down to the side was unbearable and they didn’t climb that well. Gave them away to someone else.

I also love my Cruxes, very burly. I have had to use seam seal on a couple spots, so the construction could be improved.

I’m planning on trying the Geckos once I can get my hand on them. They’re supposed to be the best for actual climbing as they’re the most technical approach shoe they have. They have a much lower profile so are good for jamming too

Basically the Crux is an approach shoe designed for hiking and the Gecko is an approach shoe designed for climbing.

Scarpa recently released a new approach shoe, or is going to, and it’s an approach/running combination. Starts with a K, can’t remember the name.

I think you are talking about the Kalipe?

Thanks for the info

Kalipe! That’s it, not something I’m interested in, but might fit the niche others have.

The Crux is basically the new version of the old La Sportiva Boulder X.

Gecko is meant to function like an intro climbing shoe that fits like a tight approach shoe.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
