What's the current book of choice for NRG? I really only see new river rock, but I'm wondering if there's something else out there I should look for.

The New River Rock by Mike Williams (Wolverine publishing) is the definitive guidebook for routes. There is also a Rakkup version if you're a heathen.

Notes: The NRG is usually discussed in the Southeastern Southern forum. Also, Mountain Project's page for any climbing area there is a list of guidebooks. Several are listed for the NRG. I mention only in case you (or any reader) has missed that. (see "Guidebook" on https://www.mountainproject.com/area/105855991/the-new-river-gorge)

Also worth noting that Williams is working on a new edition of the guidebook. Although the current edition will still serve you just fine.

The Williams guidebook is really fantastic. Get it for sure, it'll make your life a lot easier. Some reviews (on the first edition, back when it was just one volume): https://www.mountainproject.com/forum/topic/107096207/thoughts-on-wolverine-guidebook-for-new-river-gorge

I didn't know that was considered the south east. I did know about the guidebook list, but I've gotten some pretty dated and bad beta from the mp climbing section and wanted a current voice. Thanks for the input. Looks like new river rock it is.

It seems Volume 1 is already out (NRG proper): https://www.wolverinepublishing.com/store/new-river-rock-vol-1/

Volume 2 (Summersville, Meadow River) is supposed to be out this spring.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
