La Sportiva TX2 fit
|
I ordered by mail and they feel tight. Unfortunately for me one of my feet is a 1/2 size bigger than the other. I ordered in my regular street shoe size, and the small foot feels perfect but the larger foot is touching the ends of the toe box; My toes aren't bent but any tighter and they would start to be. It seems like it would be uncomfortable for a long hike. I am moving to the Rocky Mountains and bought these for alpine hikes/scrambles.
Thanks, Delaney. |

No, they won't stretch in length by any noticeable amount. And no, your toes shouldn't touch the end for a hiking shoe. That will hurt your toes when walking downhill. The only reason to have your toes fill the toebox is for standing on small edges, which is not the strong suit of approach shoes anyway. |

So for anyone else facing this issue.. I went to the store and tried on TX3 in person. The same size that was too short in TX2 fit beautifully. Apparently the length is the same, but I don't know cause my toes don't touch the ends now. I know the TX3 have a wider toe box too, so maybe that's part of it. |

Glad the TX3 is working out for you. I know that the TX3 will be more roomier in the upper - more overall volume. I don't know off hand if the last is different though. My guess is that they're not (sportiva claims they're not either). |

For what it’s worth I wear tx2s with my toes touching the end on long approaches to climbs (e.g. up in the enchantments) and haven’t had any issues with bruised toes. Maybe since they’re pretty flexible as opposed to leather boots? Or my toes are just work-hardened from shoving them into tiny climbing shoes? I wear tx4s size 41 for comfortable daily use and tx2s size 40.5 for climbing. I love having snug fitting shoes for scrambly approaches, and notice a big difference in performance while smearing as well as edging. |

Delaney Bray-Stone wrote: The difference felt very noticeable to me, I don't think it is possible that the toe box has the same dimensions. If they do use the same last then there must be some other factor in the design allowing for a wider fit overall, as it also felt less tight along the middle area of the foot. Maybe it's in part due to the shape of my foot; I suspect the TX2 would work better for folks who's big toe project out farther than their other toes, but my big toe is the same length or slightly shorter than the 'index' toe. |

I just got a pair of TX2 that seem to fit a tad snug but not uncomfortable, my toes are not touching the end at all but I’m wondering if the compression of the sock/knit part of the upper breaks in at all? |
