finger extension exercises

Hi Folks.  I tore a ligament in my thumb skiing, and had an operation.  I will have to do a long rehab of my hand,so I thought I would also work on the opposing muscles that I often neglect. 

What are your best exercises and tips/tricks to work the finger extensors?

Probably there are better ways but the ol' rice bucket does it. You can also get various elastic thingeys with finger holes.

I like forearm curls with dumbbells going up and down. If that makes sense

You can simply and affordably use a rubber band from an office store. Come in large bags so when it ultimately wears out you can easily replace it.
