Red River Gorge Flooding -- What's it looking like for climbing?
|
Hey there! I'm headed to the red from March 14-April 12. Is anyone out there now that can comment on how bad the flooding is? In additio nto climbing I'm also a birder/hike, so I'm curious how passable anything is in the area. Any info would be helpful! |

Not great. Miller Fork and PMRP are inaccessible. |

That's only one area of many many areas, yea? |
|
Muir is open and accepting donations this weekend. Much of the north gorge roads were not affected by flooding. Downtown areas in Beattyville and Clay City Nearby the gorge were devastated. |
|
Definitely planning on donating money and volunteer hours there to help! Thanks for the extra info |

Lol yeah everything right now points to just head on down there. |

Water is down a lot in Beattyville, Hwy 11 opened back up fully yesterday, house water lines are running again for residential in the area, and outside of Miller Fork everything is in decent shape. This is directly from the person we rent a house from in Beattyville. I am sure some opportunities to volunteer with cleanup effort will be upcoming. |

Part of the North Gorge loop is now closed due to road collapse, Eastern Sky Bridge and Funk Rock City are affected while crags accessed from the Slade side line Indian Creek Crags and Military Wall/Left Flank are not affected. |
|
Indian creek road closed where 9 splits off (right at the First Indian creek sign) as of this weekend. Does anyone know why or how long that will last? We hiked the extra mile and climbed at pebble beach but curious about other crags. Thanks! |

PMRP and the Lode are fine. |

Are roads to Miller Fork accessible? |
