Tag/Haul Lines

So I want to get a tag line and I have narrowed it down to two options: The Sterling 7mm Tagline and the Maxim Personal Escape Rope.

They weigh about the same, I'll be getting a 75m length and mostly be used as a tag line to rap with, but I was wondering if these would work as haul lines too or should I go for a thicker rope? Also have any of you guys used either, or both, ropes? What are your thoughts on them?

Thanks

Why 75m length?

I use 70m ropes, the Sterling comes in 75m but looking at it the Maxim PER comes in 70m. Anyway those are the lengths I'd buy, 75m for the Sterling and 70m for the PER.

What Matt Z said.

I see no use whatsoever for a 75 meter of cord.

Idk Mark yell at Sterling, or get Jordan to do it, for making it 75m and get them to change it.

Also where can I buy the Maxim PER? It doesn't look like you can purchase anything from their website.

Jordan and I use the Maxim cords, not the Sterling. If that’s the one you get, simply cut it down to 70.

To account for rope stretch, and the extra cord could be cut off to make a bail anchor.

I would be stoked to have a 75M line... short fixing something with modern rope stretching pitches and a light enough haul bag that 7mm is ample to both haul on and tag. seems ideal.

any other situation I wouldn't want it.

Not sure how extra length on the tag line helps with short-fixing...

Ah, interesting, I hadn't' considered that as I've never kept going without doing at least half of the hauling first. (posting limits caused me to edit the orig post, ugh)

obviously ones short fix is ultimately limited by there remaining lead line, and tag/haul line used on a pitch vs. lead line will always give you excess in tag/haul, but I would find the extra 5 meters valuable.

I hate being the second and breaking the leaders momentum because they needed a tag but I cant supply enough line to get the rack to them cause i'm midway through the haul, it seems like the rack getting tagged is always a short distance from them too. ...here they are chilling out on some tipped out beak or crummy hook holding onto the tag waiting for me to free up line. extra 5 meters would sure be nice there.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
