Distal clavicle excision? Anyone?

Anyone here ever ever have a distal clavicle excision?  If so how where your results and recovery time?

FYI  this procedure is where a surgeon uses a scope to shave off the end of the clavicle without damaging any connective tissues.  This creates more space in the AC joint.

Thanks.

I had it done ten years or so ago. I had impingement to the point any overhead reaching and pulling caused severe pain. Arthroscopic procedure and three months taking it easy and it was totally fixed. No pain now for over a decade.

Had it done almost two years ago in conjunction with supraspinatus repair and acromial decompression-All healed fine

Same as above with Labrum repair. 2011. Full recovery, no limits on activity or exercise. 47 yrs age at time  of surgery.

Had both shoulders done.  One "open" procedure (right - 17 years ago) and one arthroscopic (left - 12 years ago).  Both went well.  The open procedure a little better but that's because they took out more material and created more space.  This is really an overlooked procedure for people that have structural issues (acromion shape) causing impingement.  The only regret is not doing both sooner and suffering for a year or more with each and trying to rehab.

Little to no pain in the shoulders now...but I do a lot of proactive maintenance for mobility, strength, and stability.

If you do or do not have the procedure ---*Passive hanging is the WAY!  If people would just hang overhand from a bar (not rings etc.) for a minute a day, I bet many impingement based shoulder issues would resolve over the course of months.  If that sounds like a bold claim...try it for 6-12 months and see.

Thanks for all of the responses!

I’ll give the hang therapy a try and add it to what I’m doing already. Unfortunately  not sure how much this will help as my condition is caused from another genetic condition that roughed up the surface of my clavicle. Basically my acronym did not fuse into one piece and I had to have it screwed together when I was 30 years old.
