Helmet HOLDERS?

On some of my packs I just run a loop of shock cord through the daisy chains and attach the helmet through the headlight holders, making sure to use the chin strap to lock through the cord as well. Works fine for the approach.

On another pack I do use an older Mammut helmet holder. Works well on anything over 40L but is a bit flabby without the helmet on anything under, so then I'd rather use the bungee approach. 

I just wear my helmet while hiking.

That looks quite good actually, might copy your idea. I would, however, make some small adjustments. Girth hitch the shock cord on one side and use small biners on the other.

Yes I would do that...after having done it myself I do not recommend drilling out bigger holes in buttons haha
