Helmet HOLDERS?
|
Anyone have experience using a helmet diaper on a MH scrambler pack or Patagonia Ascentionist? Will any helmet holder work with any pack daisychain system? |
|
I object to your terminology, sir. |

Sam Untersee wrote: Much. My Osprey Mutant 38 came with a stretchy mesh/fabric helmet holder with small plastic hooks at each corner. It can work with pretty much any pack which has daisy chain webbing on the top or back panel. Looking at the Ascensionist, I think it would work just fine. |

good luck finding a stand alone helmet bra to purchase. i don't know why its so hard to find a decently made option. looks like mammut made a decent one but out of stock everywhere i have looked. i hate to say it, but the helmet bra is kind of essential for ski touring... |

Blue ice makes one that I’ve bought separately |

Deuter makes a good helmet holder. |

Tommy Sicilian wrote: Looks like you are ready for a new helmet ;-) I have a spool of shock cord downstairs, I find it useful for many things. I originally got it for the top Microtrax for TR solo, but found out it is great for keepers on gloves, lids of all sorts, to keep them from flying off when riding in the back of my truck, bino straps etc |

You can make any helmet holder work with any pack. You might have to use some string or mini biners to attach it, or get fancy and buy some side release buckles and sew them on, since the clips it comes with (most likely) won’t match up with the loops/straps on the pack.

I have the deuter one. I have used it on multiple packs. I've had it work on my BD distance pack and my Hyperlight Prizm. |

On almost all my packs, I can just thread an existing pack strap (either lid straps or side straps) through the helmet “ear” straps and it rides the same way. Or I just thread the chin strap through a couple of daisy loops, or I stuff “stuff” inside the helmet and it rides on top inside my pack.... Can’t really think of a pack or time when you would need a separate dedicated helmet holder thingy. |

Mark Pilate wrote: My helmet goes inside my pack all the time usually but with upgrading to a sirocco I was a bit worried that putting it inside the pack could result in it getting crushed like the BD vapor has been known to do. After seeing how the siroccos EPP foam rebounds though that fear has been quelled and I will probably continue to keep it in the pack |

I have a shock cord setup (actually hair ties, because that's what I had...). Repurposed the ice tool holders from my pack and push them through the vents in the helmet. Works well and doesn't flop around when hiking. Also used some elastic/shock cord to make shoe holders for the sides. Shock cord is great for DIYing your pack when you have zero sewing abilities. |

For anyone still tuned in here's what I came up with...took y'alls shock cord ideas and ran with it. I still think there is room to improve but this works totally fine for now. |
