Has anyone actually puked from experiencing the screaming barfies?

Just curious. I’ve been very close a few times.

No, but I did die one time it was so bad

No, but I know several people who’ve fainted before

No. But related, I once topped out a chimney so brutal that i had to take an immediate sh*t on the belay ledge.

I've been close. One time I could do nothing but curl up in a fetal position and try my hardest not to cry. Thought for sure I was going to puke. Im usually really good at avoiding the screaming barfies when it's really cold, but this one particular time was when it was not that cold out, but the rock was maybe 15 or 20 degrees colder than the air, and it got me good.

Thought I was going to a couple weekends ago, retched once but didn't actually puke.

Yes.  I have seen it happen, but only once.

No, but once it took my hands six weeks to fully regain sensation.

In 15 years of ice climbing, I have never had the barfies.

Almost puking can be worse than puking...

The worst ones were combing bashing knuckles with straight shaft tools, while fingers were trying to thaw.

I haven't but have climbed with people who claim they have. I haven't seen it.

I think the guy three posts above me who said it took 6 months to recover had a bit of frostbite, totally different from barfies.

Other than slightly swollen hands and increased circulation for a few hours, I've never seen any physical effect (once the pain stops and I catch my breath from screaming)

Never puked because of the screaming barfies but have damn near wanted to cry. That said, while climbing at high altitude I have coughed so hard that I puked. That was due to the remnants of a bronchial infection.

Typically, I just get the screamy ouchies, but I’ve become nauseated and light headed a few times. I got the pre-puke burps a couple weeks ago, but nothing came up.

Yes, so cold, multiple times.  Before I gave in and started packing hand warmies in my pockets and gloves.. Felt like a weenie for using warmies.
