Spain climbing partner
|
Hey there. I just moved to southern Spain (Andalucia region) for at least the next two years. Travel restrictions are tight but hopefully loosening up here pretty soon. Looking for sport/trad partners that could meet up for 2-4 day trips throughout the year (I'm particularly interested in El Chorro). If it works out, also willing to plan lots of other trips around Europe (Greece, Italy, etc). Let me know if you're ever in Spain, I could also travel to other regions hopefully by summer. Thanks! Jules |

hey Jules I live in EC and frequently need partners-a recent and really good partner just left yesterday :- ( BTW, no lockdown here and no Covid either. PM me and we can swap contact info. I am also interested in climbing at other areas once it is safe and travel is freed up. I particularly want to try Chulilla and Calpe and also Sagres in Portugal but for now, I am staying here where it is safe. For the late spring, maybe northeast Spain (Siurana, Margalef and lots of other places in the region) and in summer, Bohuslan in Sweden. I would consider some places in France and Italy. Richard |

Hi Juliana, I am going to El Chorro this month. How was your experience finding partners there? Do you think it works if I just go there and then try to meet some people and find partners on the spot? Any tips are most welcome as I am traveling there alone and for the first time :) Cheers! Teodora, I found partners at the train station cafe but that was in February during prime climbing season. I usually go there every February to early March if you are looking for partners then. Hopefully I'll be there in Feb 2022 if there's no travel ban. |

Hello Juliana et al. Best, D.Porter. |

Hi Julianna, I live in Southern Portugal and was thinking of heading to cooler pastures in Northern Spain to do some climbing. I would like to leave in perhaps 2 days and stay there for a couple of weeks. Let me know if you're interested/available to meet up. |
|
Also, I used to live in Spain and have done lots of climbing in El Chorro, so let me know if you're looking for any specific beta on the area. |
|
Hey Amanda, The next few weeks I'll be in Italy and France, but I am always down to meet up in Northern Spain, or when it gets a bit cooler, southern portugal and el chorro. thanks for writing!! |

Hi Julianna and others, I plan to arrive in southern Spain at the end of October an stay until end of December. I am looking for climbing partners. I have been in El Chorro three years ago. I like sports climbing up to 5.9 and multi-pitch up to 5.7. Looking forward to meet you! Christa |

Hi Everyone! thanks for your replies! I just retuned from Spain. I spent a week in El Chorro, totally off season, but I managed to find another climber staying at the Olive Branch. El Chorro really is climber's heaven! We could climb in the shade in the morning and in the afternoon which was great. There are also some via ferratas and plenty of hikes to od around, with stunning views, all accessible without a car. I hope to return in the winter, and maybe we will meet there! I wish you an amazing climbing autumn! :) |

I'm planning on flying into Spain October 2nd and leaving October 9th. I might meet up with a friend in Barcelona the 2nd to the 3rd, and then go to Calpe for the rest of the trip. I would be interested in changing things around to climb in El Chorro or elsewhere if possible. I've found one partner for Calpe, but she isn't interested in multipitch, and I would like to do a bit of that as well. I climbed in Chulilla four years ago and found partners in a Barcelona climbing group on Facebook. It was probably the best week of my life. |

Hello! My partner and I are staying in Alora and had planned to climb in El Chorro. With the rain forecast for the next few days, we're wondering what other climbers in the area are up to. We are also curious if folks have plans for Christmas tomorrow? We head back to Alicante Thursday afternoon (12/29) and fly back to the U.S on Friday. Would love to meet up with other climbers. Cheers! :) |

Adelore-El Chorro is packed with climbers right now. You will easily find partners here. |

dunno about hotel or hostel. Olive Branch and Finca are both packed. Finca does not have good wifi, OB does but lots of people use it. try booking.com or other sites for other accom. look in El Chorro and nearby villages. Malaga is not practical without a car. only 3 trains per day. even with a car it takes most people one hour each way. what is your budget for accom and how long will you stay (only 2 nights each time or longer?) |
