I'm going to be in the LA area for my cousins wedding this month and I wanted to squeeze some bouldering in. Is there somewhere to rent crash pads out there? Also looking for suggestions on good locations this time of year. Thinking about stoney point and pirate cove. Is black mountain open this time of year?

Maybe Mt. Rubidoux?

Also some stuff at Big Rock:

Just don't leave anything valuable in your car at either place.

Don't know about conditions for Black Rock, but it is a long drive and if it is open, road conditions are likely to be impassable without 4X4.

Edit: sorry, I went off topic re: pads. I know nothing about that.

Thanks! Definitely checking out Rubidoux.

Thanks Paige for responding to my post.

At Big Rock you can boulder traverse all day long. The landings are pretty much flat sand. If there are other parties around, they will prolly let you tie in for a climb.

I know that many REIs rent shoes and pads, so you may check with them

Make sure you check the tide charts if you go to Pirate's Cove.  It is unclimbable at high tide and best at low tide.  Depending on what you want to climb, you may not need a pad, just a towel or piece of carpet to clean your shoes.

Thanks! Turns out the one near my aunts house rents climbing equipment!
