Five Ten Moccasyms - discontinued?
|
Hi All, I know a lot of people aren't fond of the Moccs since Five Ten's acquisition by Adidas, but they're still my go-to shoe for bouldering - I've had several different pairs over the years and have gotten a few pairs resoled. I noticed REI recently started discounting them from $125 to $99, which is exceedingly rare for a climbing shoe. Their site now says that the item is discontinued - I ended up buying two pairs just to be safe. Google searches lead back to Mountain Project forums, with a post that has an email screenshot of an Adidas rep saying that Five Ten would be discontinued by Adidas in Spring 2021, but I can't find any corroborating information. I checked a few other Five Ten products on the REI site but they didn't have the same discontinued alert. Anyone know what's going on? |

I don't know anything about them being discontinued, but check out the Unparallel UP Moccs. They're very similar w/ a little extra rubber over the toes. The company was founded by people that left or were laid off from 5.10 when Adidas took over. |

Looks like they are getting replaced by the updated NIAD Moccasym: https://www.flipsnack.com/adidasOutdoorNAM/ss21_adidas_fiveten_climb_app_ftw_flip.html |

The new asymetric toe patch is on the wrong side for crack climbing. It still works for toe hooking, so I guess their main target market is now bouldering. Too bad, I really enjoyed the full toe patch of the discontinued Anasazi Pro for cracks. |

Actually they still have the plain Mocc without the toe rubber patch in that Spring catalog, maybe they will offer both styles. |

looks like pinks are done again. The new thing that looks like them looks like it has a bigger heel cup. Also what is up with the little lip of rubber on the heels of those mocs? looks like gearX or similar shoes. |

Idk about the other shoes but I’m obsessed with my Grandstones. They are the only high tops that fit me well. |

Sizing is all over the place with zero consistency 4. Strange lack of sensitivity and precision Nope, can’t think of a thing that they still do well. After 20+ years of using 5.10 almost exclusively, I’ve switched to Sportiva and don’t really miss them. |

They restocked a lot of shoes recently including the Moccs. |
