what's your guy's source for liquid rock 500 in single tubes?

I've been using dewalt pure 110+, but I believe they discontinued single tubes and I'd have to change over to a dual tube system..

Also considering A7 or Simpson set xp.

I've used Zoro. If you search around you can probably find some first order coupon codes. zoro.com/kbmt/liquid-roc-500/

Don't support the double cartridge business, its not worth it for routes.

I hadn't heard of zoro but it seems like fair prices. FYI ac100+ gold is $20 a tube there versus liquid roc 500 at $30

Zoro is reputable and fast! I highly recommend

Thank you,  I didn't see that you could get just a few tubes on zoro. I thought you could only get a whole case. We'll try a tester 1st.

Hi Jim.  Could you use twist bolts with these:

https://libertymountain.com/climb/hardware/climbing-protection/411305-powers-38-glue-capsules-10-pack.html

That would be very cost effective for the area I'm trying to develop in PA.

Thanks.

Matt

Anyone know the difference between A7+ and T7+? I can’t find any information on the T7+ other than Lowes and Home Depot are selling it, which seems like a pretty big red flag.

It has a longer working time and the same or similar standards recognition...

I have used it and is seems to work just fine.  Only issue is that the nozzles and tube feel cheap and I have broken both before using the whole tube.

For $20 at a big box store it is great

Thanks J-Ru, good to know. Especially about the cheap tubes, exactly what I’m trying to avoid after a couple busted tubes of AC100.

agreed, internal bag design is like sika which can be a real pain, would not recommend T7+ for bolts only hold reinforcement.

Just a link for AC 100+, I used this. It was just on sale for $185 for a 12 pack, and expiration was Feb 2025. It's currently at $216, but worth keeping an eye on.

If anyone wonders how glue-ins hold up in a wildfire burn over. We've been using A7+ for our glue-ins. A couple yrs ago we had a high intensity stand replacement fire burn through one of our climbing areas. It was hot enough to melt our epoxy guns we'd stashed on top a project wall. But, all previously placed glue-ins are still solid.

How is Simpson Set-G3? It's the cheapest glue at the local Home Depot.

Looks like a pure epoxy with good specs, hard to believe that's the cheapest glue available to you? Online home depot charges $37 for the 11oz cartridge. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Simpson-Strong-Tie-SET-3G-8-5-oz-High-Strength-Epoxy-Adhesive-with-1-Nozzle-and-Extension-SET3G10/312947523 the how not 2 store has ac100+ gold for $25, and 20% off that if you become a member https://hownot2.com/products/ac100-gold

Set 3G is a good glue, long working times and cures smooth and grey.  It is very runny, a lot runnier than ac100 or liquidroc 500, so it's not ideal for overhang, but great for seeping into cracks or deep holes

Thanks for all the info! So there were a few reasons I was thinking Set-G3 would be ideal. One I'm looking for a glue with long working times which appears to be true of the Simpson. Two last I checked the glue was only 25 dollars? Could have been on sale. Are any of the other Simpson adhesives suitable for bolting?

Not that there's anything wrong with ac100 but it looks like Dewalt is making an epoxy Pure220. It does appear to be a bit small 25 dollars for a 9 ounce tube. Once again... does anyone know anything about it?

Caj, if you want to glue a lot of bolts, you'll want to buy a dual tube of Simpson SET-3G or SET-XP, such as this one:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Simpson-Strong-Tie-SET-3G-22-oz-High-Strength-Epoxy-Adhesive-with-Nozzle-and-Extension-SET3G22-N/312947532

It's cheaper per ounce and you'll need to swap tubes less often.

I have a twin cartridge dispenser and a single tube dispenser, both made by simpson strongtie.  I've used liquidroc 500 and set 3G with both twin cartridge and single cartridge (I've also used ac500 and A7+ but only in single tubes)

My recommendation is to just use the single tube dispenser, it's easier to manage and lighter weight (obviously).  I'd only recommend twin cartridge if you're working with another person and gluing like, 20+ bolts in a day

Also, as you pointed out on another thread, set 3G is objectively better than set xp in both strength and temperature resistance, so set 3G is the better choice for rock climbing application

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.

Fixed Hardware: Bolts & Anchors
