Does anyone have experience getting warranty service done on Arc'teryx gear purchased pre-owned? Is a purchase receipt required? Looking at picking up their Mountaineering boots second hand.

Arcteryx has been particularly difficult for warranty repairs in my recent experience. Unless there is a clear and unarguable manufacturer defect, I’d be surprised if they did anything. Even more unlikely if you aren’t the original owner probably. You may want to call them and ask prior to the purchase as well.

They repaired a zipper for free on my Proton jacket that I bought here on the forum. I dropped it off at an Arcteryx store and they never asked for proof of purchase.

I have an Alpha LT jacket from late 2011 being repaired right now. The tab on the inside that is used to hang the jacket on a hook started to pull away.
My experience so far is pretty straightforward. I submitted the required information through their website. They replied with an email and request for additional pieces of information and then sent me instructions to ship it to them. They never required a proof of purchase or receipt. I sent the jacket out early in December and I received an email just yesterday confirming that the jacket is being repaired and confirming my shipping address. I hope to have it back in a couple of weeks.
All in all, it's a good experience so far.

I've had good experiences but have only dealt with them in person here in Canada. I had a used mid-layer in very rough shape over four years old, no receipt. They took it in, couldn't repair, and gave me 50% off a brand new item. My friend had a jacket and bibs older than five years, no receipt, he took into the same store and he got brand new jacket and bibs while paying the difference for the model upgrade. All that said, I don't know how they deal with technical gear (i.e. boots).

I sent a Miura 50 pack in for a torn shoulder strap that I had used for years. They never asked for proof of purchase and repaired it like new

i sent in a miura 45 pack for a zipper repair, they lost it and since it wasn't in production anymore they let me pick any pack I want so now I'm working with a $550 retail bora AR 50 lol... maybe a little bit overkill for a crag pack. Good riddance though, i hated that miura anyways.
The miura itself was a gift so i didn't have receipts or anything. Another experience I had was I crashed my bike while wearing an Atom LT. They refused to repair all the tiny holes from the road rash since it would essentially require they replace it(they typically replace a panel at a time on the repair). They offered me to replace it with a new jacket for $80. This seemed pretty fair of them as the warranty request was not from a manufacturing defect. They aren't the best warranty out there but they are indeed fair. The companies that handle warranties the best from my experience are Sterling Rope, Big Agnes, and Mammut. With an emphasis on mammut, their service team is super awesome.

All of my experiences with Arc'Teryx warranty have been straightforward and to my satisfaction. Never needed to provide proof of purchase, but have needed to provide photos of the manufacturer tags to prove it wasn't a counterfeit product. The process right now is a bit slower as all evaluations are being done electronically.
