Climbers in Livermore?
|
I am starting a post doc at the Lab in February and am looking for either climbing partners and/or awesome roommates to rent with! Feel free to reply or reach out if interested in connecting :) |

Hi Tiffany, My name is Eric, and I'm a local climber in Livermore and have climbed extensively in Yosemite and the surrounding areas. I'm currently out of climbing action right now due to injury, but am a good resource for climbing information. There are several active climbers in the area, and I know a couple at the lab that still get out regularly. Unfortunately due to covid 19, everyone is somewhat in lockdown and disconnect these days. Anyways, I'd be happy do what I can to help you find some local partners when you get out this way, or at least point you in the right direction. Livermore is a nice place with a great downtown. It has some outdoor recreation nearby at Lake Del Valle and the surrounding wilderness area, with good hiking up there too. Feel free to get ahold of me. - Eric Gabel |

Another Livermore climber here. Interned at the lab in 2017 and moving there full time this January.

Bummer that Sunrise is no longer open downtown. |

Actually, now that you mention it, what's the beta on climbing gyms near Livermore? Is everything a 20-30 min drive? |

Tiffany, the Peak in Fremont is the closest gym. ~25 minutes from downtown Livermore. The Touchstone gyms are the other options but around 35-45 minutes to get to Oakland or Concord on a weeknight. We used to have to have a carpool Tuesday/Thursday going to the Peak from the lab but most the people aside from me have moved on. |

Gotcha. That's the gym I thought was closest just using Google maps. I'd be down to do some trips once COVID settles down and I settle in! Carpooling, definitely. |

Hi, I’m in Livermore to, a lot of back an forth from Italy but now I’m pretty stable here. I have been climbed a lot in CRSP, manly bouldering but a like a lot also sport climbing. |
|
My preferred solution to climbing gyms in Livermore was to 'commute' to PG-Sunnyvale twice a week. The trip was approx 1 hr getting there, 45 min coming home. If anyone else is interested, I will be doing that when they re-open. IME the indoor cracks available there are valuable for getting ready to go to Yosemite on the weekends. |
|
Hey, I'd be happy to partner up on climbs in the future. Perhaps we can collaborate on building a woody to make up for the lack of gyms in Livermore. Welcome to the area! |
|
I’m not in Livermore but in the valley near Stockton. No gyms that I know of are open around me but I’d love to hook up with some people and climb somewhere. Looking for future partners to do some outdoor climbing eventually. |

Steven, how does one join the Livermore Climbing Ranch? |

Nice, is that adjustable? |
|
Yep - there is a winch in the back. It's basically derived from the Grasshopper climbing adjustable wall design, and tweaked to work as a freestanding assembly (since we rent). |

Awesome Alex! |

If the Livermore squad want to do a meet up & moon board session, I'll be down for hosting some T/Th evening now that the sun is out longer. Unfortunately, my board is fixed at 40 degrees so it is rather unforgiving! |

That sounds like a plan to me |
