Going To be rolling through Prescott in 2 weeks, and will be meeting some friends who are not climbers.  They’d like to get out and give this whole rock climbing thing a go.

Where would be the best concentration of climbs for new climbers?

thanks in advance for advice

granite dells have a number of good sport routes

Granite basin/boulderland is another good area where you could set up top ropes by scrambling to anchors. This is probably my main recommendation https://www.mountainproject.com/area/105956496/boulderland

If you have gear, upper Sullivan’s canyon is a fun area, where you could do some top managed top roping. Most of the easier climbs here are on the south side and it may be cold. https://www.mountainproject.com/area/105957496/upper-sullivans

Go to Watson Lake in Prescott. At the Pavillion Wall you can easily top rope quality cracks. The approach is less than five minutes. It has bolted anchors on a huge ledge that you can easily access from above.  Make sure to bring lots of webbing (maybe 50ish feet) to extend your anchors over the lip of the wall. It's $3 to get in since it's a city park. Pump and Grind 5.9, Hard Times 5.7, and Party Line 5.5 are all great cracks. Some of the other lines there are fun as well.

Time Zone at Watson Lake has a bunch of easy face climbs and is sunny.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have plenty of gear and quick draws.  It’s my experience that face climbing is easier for new climbers than crack technique, so maybe we will try some of the sports area.

Thanks again for the responses

Shady Grove is also another area, although, as the name implies is shady.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
