Mtn Hardwear Scrambler 35 pack -- anyone using one?
|
Looking for actual user feedback on the Mtn Hardwear Scrambler 35 pack for use as a cragging pack. Fit? Comfort? Durability? Haul gear to base of crag? Thanks! |

haven’t used that one, but i have two of mountain hard wear’s “multi pitch 30”... great bag and comfortable to hike and climb with. lightweight, and drawing ed with haul features- super sleek and snag-free. really durable except for the little water bottle pouch in the side, but then again i’m really hard on my bags. regardless, possibly my favorite daypack i’ve ever owned. i know it isn’t quite what you were asking about, but it’s good bag that might suit your needs and something to consider ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

I have the scrambler 30. It is big enough for sport cragging if you put your harness on at the car and use the rope strap. You won’t be putting a 70m in a rope bag inside the pack. It’s OK as a summit pack but I prefer to use something smaller. The outdry waterproofing is not effective - it leaks at the zipper. |

I've got the scrambler 25 and I absolutely love it. Even the 25 was enough to fit an entire sport rack or my light single rack and the other essentials. The comfort is absolutely there too, carries loads relatively well for a small pack. It's still rather new to me and I haven't really put it through the ringer but the durability is bomber. The 25L specifically is a bit small for larger cragging missions (hard to fit layers in addition to the gear) but I assume the 35 would work super well for that. |

I have a Scrambler 35 and like it overall. I tend to pack too much, but I can fit a single rack and everything else I need in it while strapping the rope and my helmet to the outside of the pack. The design is simple and streamlined, which I like. It is fine on comfort for a day of cragging, but for heavier loads, I wish it came with removable padding for the hip belt. I am 5’10” and find the medium/large to be a good fit. I have only used it a dozen times or so, but it is holding up well and the fabric is water resistant to some degree |

I've been cragging with the scrambler 35 for almost a year now. I generally fit a double rack, bunch of alpine draws, anchor material, harness, two pairs of shoes, 3L of water and a helmet inside the bag + 60m rope on top and snacks in the brain. Its a real tight squeeze but you can do it. That said, I agree with the above comments that for heavy loads more padding/better suspension would be preferable for sure. For sport cragging it would be awesome though. |

I bought one this spring. Really enjoy the size and design, but the material is not tough enough in my opinion. Between spring skiing and cragging I've worn 7 holes into the material, 5 from ski edges and two on the bottom just due to every day wear. They're not catastrophic and easily patched but I haven't been impressed. Super lightweight at least. |
