Anyone have a source for stainless rings?

Has anyone ordered stainless steel rap rings in the past week or so or know of somewhere that they're in stock without a huge markup? I just tapped out my supply and it seems that all the places I would usually order them from are out of stock, or marked up to 8+ dollars a pop.

Follow-up question: do the rings from this site look like something you would be comfortable using? https://www.uscargocontrol.com/Round-Ring-Stainless-Steel-T304-3-8-inch-x-2-inch

The WLL on the 3/8" diameter stock, 2" width rings is 1,100lb and assuming a safety ration of at least 2:1 it seems like they would be ok. Just fishing for opinions.

In a high wear application I would just use carbon steel galvy....they're gonna have to be replaced from wear before rust.

The galvy will wear longer but are cheaper.

The next spot I have my eyes on is a small entirely undeveloped crag that probably wont see a lot of traffic. Looking for longevity on these ones corrosion wise.

What's your set up?

Lower off or rappel?

You might be better off with pigtails or fixed biners.

Galvy ring hardware in a reasonably dry environment should last upwards of 30 years.

I saw those, but I thought I read something a little while back about corrosion issues with duplex. Maybe I'm misremembering.

Hillbilly: my setup is hanger->quicklink->ring so people can lower or rap as they see fit. I've never seen a pigtail in the wild and I don't really want to put something in an anchor that people around here are unfamiliar with.

Team Tough has their 12mm links for sub $8

I used to be able to get Raumer 10mm SS rings for $3.50 but that source looks to have dried up darn it.  Should have ordered more last month...

You're probably better off ordering a few feet of SS chain in either 3/8 or 1/2" and cutting out individual links.  even with 50% loss you're looking at $3-$5 each I think.

Edit to add that simply using double QLs is also perfectly good and likely much cheaper as well

I'd score some of these while the price is right:

But seriously, don't break the bank leaving amazing SS gear on obscurities. SS bolts and hangers only, but the replaceable rap gear is fine, imo, in galvy. The margin of safety is insanely high (ie 5/16" quicklinks break at 8000# and the same for 10mm rings) so they will be safe for many decades. Beyond that they are easily replaceable or backed up if truly corroded when found by future archeologists lol.

Those rings are actually pretty nice. The weld is smoother than the junk show weld on the Fixe rings so they seem to wear more evenly. The company says the breaking load is 4 times the working load, though I suspect thats still on the conservative end for a 3/8" ring.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.

Fixed Hardware: Bolts & Anchors
