Best Arete Climb?!
|
As a follow up to my previous post, I want to hear what everybody’s favorite arete climb is. In particular, the best arete in the southeast, but if you have a cool one in another part of the country I’ll allow it. It can be trad or sport, just as long as it follows an arete in some way. Personally this is one of my favorite type of routes, but I’d like to hear what everyone else has to say! |

There’s rock climbing in the southeast? |
|
Blade Runner It’s a 3 pitch beautiful arete well up off the deck with great exposure. It’s in Red Rock |

Under the milky way, summersville lake wv |

WG on cannon cliff.. It's that left skyline. unfourtunatly most of its missing in this shot.. This thing usually feels like an arette. A better shot of WG Celibacy feels a bit like an arette but its probably considered face climbing. |

Bullet the Blue Sky in Penitente canyon is pretty damn cool. |

Sorry it's not the southeast, but I'm not gonna let one of these threads go without Rumney appreciation |

Chain Reaction is the best.. debate over:) |

Mango Tango at the New is one of the prettiest aretes I’ve ever seen in person, and it meets your SE criteria. I definitely never touched it! But it sure looks nice |

Last pitch of Cosmic Wall (more of a ridge) and Ney-Palm Arete (haven't done it but it looks sick). |

Does it count if it's on the south-east aspect of a formation? |
|
Not in "the" country, and not exactly a pure arete climb. However, I should think this route rates pretty high in the category (never mind the three-star rating: it seems that guy backed off early and was in over his head): https://www.mountainproject.com/route/109933546/excuse-me-senora-give-me-la-hora |
