Evolv Supra & General
|
I just picked up a pair of Supras, ordered online without trying them on based on my like for the Oracles I've been wearing for a couple year. I've only worn them for a few hours in the gym to start breaking them in, but a big fan from that time already. I know that I am going to need to replace my TC Pros soon, and have been considering the Generals instead of another pair of TCs. Has anyone worn the Supras and the Generals? How do they compare for fit and feel? From looking online they seem to have a similar shape and construction, minus obvious things like leather vs synthetic, lace vs velcro, and the ankle height. I like that the Supra seemed to have a higher volume toe box than the TCs and a stiffer sole, which I'm hoping the General has as well. Any feedback appreciated. |

I don't generally (ha! pun score) wear Evolvs, but did get a pair of Generals this year. Due to how bulbous the toes are, though, I have reserved them for #3+ crack. Anything smaller and they do not jam well (size 13, 12.5 would be a tight fit for me, but same problem and I scored a deal on the 13s to try them out). If you don't need the Generals to jam smaller than #2 crack, then yeah, they would be a higher volume toe box alternative for you. I just think that for all-around cracks, they are too high volume - foot jams are toe jams too often. I would suggest that you check out Butora Alturos if you want a more all-around hi-top alternative. Closer to a TC Pro toe volume/height. Size as per street shoe (12s in Alturos fit like a 12.5 in the Generals for me). Super stiff. Still breaking them in. Rubber does get better with use - slick at first for sure. Also scored a deal on them. *my 'deals' mean less than $60 for like new shoes - I could never pay $150, let alone MSRP for any of these |

I’m a fan of the Supras, but I haven’t tried the Generals. My rotation includes a few old and resoled pairs of Luchadors and Bandits—all of which are from a similar Evolv last as I understand it. The stiffer sole might be the one thing I dislike about the Supras, but that opinion might change with time. |

I have pairs of both shoes and love them both. The Generals are based off the same last as the Supras, so they will fit you just fine. They are essentially a hightop version of the Supras with extra padding for jamming and comfort, plus the toe box is even bigger on the General as mentioned. They are just as stiff as the Supras, have the same rubber, and sizing is the same. |

Sounds like they are a bit bulkier than the Supras, though, so that is something to consider. I tried the Butoras a few years ago. They did not fit my foot well, and I'm still paying the price on a couple of my toes to this day.
Good to know on the stiffness and rubber. Do you have any issues with the larger toe box as mentioned above? |
