Protecting a new forearm tattoo

Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to protect a new forearm tattoo? I was thinking of covering it with gauze and wrapping climbing tape all around it, but would love any suggestions

I'd cover the tattoo with aquaphor and then wrap a piece of plastic wrap and then tape that if it's that fresh. Are you able to get your hands on SecondSkin? It's pretty awesome as far as healing tattoos - hypoallergenic, waterproof, breathable. But also keeping it out of the sun and try your best not to rub it on the rock or jam it into any cracks (but I'm sure you obviously knew the latter). Hope this helps some!

I've got second skin on! It's very fresh. I'm just worried about scraping it?

Yeah, in that case, I just think it's more a matter of being extra careful? I've climbed with fresh tattoos before and have been lucky enough to not scrape it - I imagine it would suck. Just wear a thicker sweater or something for added protection?

Ok! Yeah, just want to be extra careful. It's fairly decently sized and my first one, so I want to be careful with it

I don’t understand the problem here.  Is it fresh? Take 2-3 days off.  Clean the fucker when you’re done climbing.

Be safe and have fun.

Thanks all! Yeah, it was <2 days old on the first day of climbing and we were planning on a hand crack that requires getting the have pretty deep. Ended up just wrapping it in an ace bandage

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
