New DAS Parka and DAS Light Video Review
|
Though this review's not from an ice/alpine climber, it at least gives you quick facts/eyes-on video of this year's new, updated DAS with Aerogel/CrossCore technology. |

Looks awesome! I just really have a hard time dropping that kinda cash on a synthetic that will probably be packed out and have lost 30-40% of its warmth in like 2 years. |

Besides being eco friendly does anyone know if primaloft gold eco is differently structured than primaloft gold? I won't buy primaloft gold pieces. They pack out way way too fast. Primaloft silver high loft has held up well for me + TNFs proprietary clima shield insulation in their cat's meow bag. |

I have their hyper puff parka that was only sold for a minute with their accordion style insulation. (actually not sure what the insulation is?) It has also held up very well. |

Updated with DAS Light |

Does anyone have any experience with the DAS light? Does that extra fabric on the front give it a warmth boost compared to the micropuff? |

Another great comparo by Raf: https://www.thealpinestart.com/2020/10/16/patagonia-das-light-review-and-micro-puff-comparison/ |

Tyler, I have essentially the same patagonia jacket I believe. It was called the storm "something" can't remember. Bought it at the slc outlet last year. It looks identical to the videos. 65 grams of the plumafill like a micro puff and then it has their m10 fabric on the outside. I really like it, haven't used it a ton yet but definitely a great layer for mountaineering or ice climbing. With the waterproof/resistant m10 fabric on mine, it doesn't pack as small but nearly as small as similarly insulated synthetic pieces. Definitely boosts the warmth especially on windy/wet days. |
|
Unless it's not the m10 fabric on the "new" das light I think it's the jacket previous sold as the storm puff or something. I wonder why patagonia has been changing around their synthetic line so much in the past couple years. Hyperpuff parka never really made it to the market, sold the jacket for a bit, now renaming/bringing back the DAS. Hard to discern which jackets are new/better and not just marketed differently! |
|
It's PU coated Pertex Endurance/Quantum Pro. DAS Light is ~50% lighter than the Micropuff Storm. |
|
Oh wow, that is very light. I think my jacket is around 20 oz. Thanks for the info! |
