Sterling or Blue Water dynamic ropes
|
I’d like to buy a Made in the USA rope because ‘Murica! |

Sterling Evolution is the best rope ever made. Just saying. |

I have/use extensively a 9.1 Icon blue water rope that has taken quite a bit of abuse in many aspects of climbing. Everything from leader whips, top rope abuse, and extensive TR soloing. Its not as stretchy or well handling as a petzl volta 9.2(have as well) but overall pretty darn bomber. The shaft and sheath are dry treated. Which in my experience seems to make just about any rope tough as nails. Also I've used a sterling rope (not mine and bought used by a friend) and the handling was amazing and seemed quite durable as well but got dirty rather quickly, not sure if dry treated or not. Either way probably can't go wrong. |

My experience in the last 12 years is Bluewater maintain their hand much longer than a Sterling. The Sterling end up feeling stuff and wire like. I’m on my 8th lightning pro or something like that. |

I love Bluewater, have had 4 Bluewater ropes over the years. Sterling feels stiffer to me. But they are both excellent ropes, it just comes to your preference. |

I ordered a couple of Bluewater ropes from that “gringoflojo” seller on eBay. New old stock. Hopefully they won’t show up having been eaten by mice and smelling like cat pee. |
