Does Anybody Here Work in a Climbing Gym?
|
Hi everybody. I've got a silly question for climbing gym employees! I have a job interview coming up at a climbing gym. So, question....what do you wear to interview at a gym? I feel as though wearing a dress or something I'd wear to a normal job interview would be overly formal for a gym, and probably impractical if they wanted to belay test me or something. So, what did you wear to your interview? Is there any other advice you could give me? |

Used to work at a gym. When I interviewed I wore a nice button up shirt and chinos with nice boots. That felt appropriate. I suggest you present yourself nicely, but a dress is probably overkill. Good luck! |

Same advice as the other user. For me it was chinos, nice polo shirt, nice but not dress shoes, belt, shower -> profit! |

i was told once to show up at a job interview wearing one standard of dress higher than you would wear working. at the climbing gym the management wears t shirts and shorts, so a button up and slacks no tie or polo and chinos both fit the bill pretty well. |

You need an interview to work at a climbing gym? |

I showed up in khaki pants and a button up shirt. Handed them a resumé (which they looked surprised to see lol), then just chatted with the interviewers mostly about my favorite places to climb and how stoked I was about climbing. Got the job but I also said upfront that I'd work for mininum wage. Good luck |

I interviewed in business casual. Nice pants, a nice fitting button up shirt, belt and nicer shoes. |

A North Face T-shit. Patagonia or Prana would do, in a pinch. |

Thanks guys. Normally I wouldn't worry so much about what to wear in a gym interview situation but the job market is rough these days, lol. |

No privilege was displayed, nor was a high horse rode during the making of my post. For the past 8 years I've worked a job that doesn't require interviews; you're thrown into the field to see if you can hack it. Also, I worked at a climbing gym when I was about the OP's age. So keep the assumptions coming.. |

Idk I showed up barefoot, unshowered, and in some grungy clothes, still hired me. |
