Comfy, light-ish sport climbing harnesses
|
My primary climbing partner has just started projecting climbs more seriously and I have discovered that my current harness is not the most comfortable for repeated catches, jugging and hanging in the belay. I’m wondering if the mountain project hive has any recommendations for a comfortable sport-climbing harness that racks gear nicely and isn’t too heavy or bulky. Women’s specific preferred. |

Dead bird, pick your poison wether you want adjustable legs or not |

I find my Black Diamond Solution to be way more comfortable than any other harness I’ve tried. |

Solution unless you are between sizes then Arcteryx, which run large by comparison. |

I have the Beal Ellipse and love it. Light weight, packs quite small, and it distributes the weight well. If you don't need the extra bells and whistles you can get the simpler version designed for sport only, the phantom. They also make a similar version designed for women. If you look outside the brands you see at the US crags you can find a lot more options that might fit the bill of what you are looking for. |

I like the Edelrid Sirana. The women's version with adjustable leg loops is the Autana. Light weight, comfy, less than half the price of dead bird. |

If your primary concern is fit you'll need to find stores that carry those harnesses. FYI - if you order safety gear online, or take it out of store, and then try to return it because of poor fit, it will likely be destroyed and go into trash bin. |

Anyone use the BD Airnet yet? |

The Edelrid Solaris is my go-to. I just retired my original version and replaced it with their updated version - which I am literally taking to the crag for the first time today! Just an FYI, the sizing has drastically changed from the original version (Icemint/Violet color) and the new version (Jade color), but they haven't updated their sizing chart. The small in the old version is the same size as the medium in the new version. |
