How is Tendon ropes?

I have used many ropes I find my Tendon to be very good and I like the softness but it seem the brand are not really appreciated. I'm willing to have youe opinion about Tendon because I'm about to bring the brand in-store at Verti Call. I might spend the budget on other brand if it's bad. Thanks

I bought a 70 9.8 new this season and liked it pretty well.  We dropped a rather large rock on it and now I have three shorter ropes.  It seems like it was holding up pretty well until then.  I replaced it with a 70M eldelrid, but I would have bought another tendon if the minor details vs. on-sale-ness had worked out a little differently... I was initially looking at tendons and will probably start there next time just cause I am cheap.

So, to distill that to feedback: I like the one I had, but I bought it based on price alone.  It didn't seem to fare any worse than the other ropes my partners and I have been using.

I have bought a couple of 70m Tendons and chopped them for gym use.  I either split the cost or keep the other half.  They work great and hold up well.

I can’t remember - either Tendon or Roca make Black Diamond ropes? Anyone conform which one (or I’m completely wrong)?  If it’s Tendon I have friends use BD ropes and like them.

EDIT - the latest info I found was 2018 and said Lanex who makes Tendon made BD ropes.

I have the master pro 9.2 80m and I like it a lot. It's heavy and thick feeling for a 9.2, but it's super durable and inspires confidence. I use it for sport cragging and multipitch climbing whenever an 80 is justifiable.

I've owned a couple b/c I got great deals on them. No issues. Just less name recognition in North America.

It's Lanex (Tendon) since 2018. It was Roca before 2018.

I have a Master 9.4 and it has served me very well. Minimal wear after 40-50 pitches of multipitch trad and at least a dozen cragging days. I would buy another.

I have found the 9.4 dry rope tends to fray more quickly than my Mammut infinity dry but the ropes are cheap and take falls well. A friend of mine dragged one all over red rocks for a season and seemed to be pretty pleased with how it held up.

I've owned (and own) many Tendon ropes.  They are decent to good -- best I can describe it as compared to more expensive ropes is it feels like I get 95% of the better rope for 70% of the price.

They tend to be ungenerous in their length cut -- 70m cut to 70m, rather than 72m.  And they tend to wear perhaps a touch faster.

On the other hand, I've found them to be generally soft and comfortable to handle though-out their life, and to die of fuzzing-out rather than stiffness as they age.  And they seem to have good springiness and retain that as they age, too.

they seem soft and nice but wear out quickly from what i have observed. pricepoint is usually very strong. they were blowing them out at la cordée a few years ago with a rope bag for peanuts. maybe la cordée won’t be around much longer (sucks) so i’m not sure who else would have them in canada.

i prefer other rope brands i guess.

I have been using a tendon this whole season and agree with other comments, it has great feel. I would recommend them for sure.

I have a 9.4 BD non-dry made by Tendon. Price was right, and I love how it handles, but hate how quickly the sheath is wearing. Roca-to-Tendon seems to have been a step down for BD. Perhaps Tendon reserves its name for its quality ropes.

From what I've seen the ropes that Tendon makes for BD have a different design than the the Tendon branded ropes. The 9.4, for example, is a 1x1 sheath weave under the Tendon name, and a 1x2 or 2x2 weave under the BD name. Probably a cost saving measure. My Tendon 9.4 has been VERY durable and held up well under a lot of trad pitches. The Tendon Master Pro 9.7 and Master Pro 9.2 are both ridiculously durable. The sheath is somehow more smooth than a standard 1x1 sheath so the fibers seem to run over rocks and gear more smoothly and don't catch and fray.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
