Removing duct tape residue off a down jacket.
|
Any advice? I’ve tried rubbing alcohol and it’s very slow. |

Naphtha/white gas/stove fuel works on many adhesive residues. Try to fold the baffle wall so the solvent doesn't contact the down. You could try a citrus-based cleaner, but then you'll probably never get rid of the odor. |

Cover it with more duct tape. |

I have had good luck with citrus zest on other adhesives. (Just scrape it off an orange or lemon and make a paste.) Seems unlikely to harm the nylon. Never tried it on duct tape, so no idea how fast it will be. |

“Goo Gone” citrus based cleaner |
|
You might also try nail polish remover (acetone) as it smells pretty good. Fresh. |
|
Goo Gone or WD-40 with a toothbrush and water after to rinse off. |
|
Try steam, and scrubbing |

Heat removes it. But to much heat melts nylon. Maybe an iron on synthetic setting on a piece of paper bag for absorption, like taking old glue off climbing skins? |

Rhino Skin Solutions Repair should do the trick. |

If not white gas, ronsonol lighter fluid is clean and dissolves a lot of residues. Just keep away from flame, spark, else YGD, YMMV etc... |

WD-40 will work, as long as you enjoy wearing clothes that stink of WD-40. For whatever it may be worth, I was pawing through my flammables cabinet this morning looking for something else when I came across a can of "3M Adhesive Remover. Citrus based. Solvent-free." |
