Bump sticking out under palm of hand

Hi guys,

After yesterday's bouldering session, I noticed a small bump under my palm. I never have this before. It feels hard (not fluid) and I think it's my scaphoid that's sticking out. It does not hurt when push it hard and my wrist functions totally normal and painless.

Should I be concerned about this and visit the doctor? I'm planning to take a week off just to see if that helps.

I uploaded three pictures. The first one is my left hand, totally fine.

The 2nd and 3rd picture has the bump on my right hand.

Looks like you acquired a nice volar ganglion cyst. (but I'm no physician). I have one that looks the same, is also painless. It waxes and wanes... sometimes disappearing completely only to return months later. They used to call them bible bumps because people would smash/pop them with a big heavy book...

Anyway, if it doesn't bother, most elect to leave them. The recurrence rate is pretty high if removed by whatever means.

Same thing happened to me after a hand-crack bouldering session. I had some pain on the back of my hand, think the bones got bruised a bit, but a bump developed on the inside of my wrist after a few days. Google says it’s a ganglion cyst, “Non-threatening.” Its been about a month for me now and the bump decreased in size a lot, but it’s still there (picture is current shrunken size). No pain at all from movement or pressure, I don’t really notice it anymore. Hopefully it goes away completely over time.

@justin I have the exact same thing on my left hand . Curious what happened to your bump? Have you had xrays taken?
