Tarsal Boss- Bone Spurs in Foot

So over the years of climbing and skiing, I've developed a boney bulge on the top of my right foot between the Tarsals and Metatarsals (also in my left but definitely not as bad) from wearing tight shoes/boots. I hadn't really thought much of it until the other day, after I went for a longer-than-normal run. Towards the end, It felt like a knot in the muscles towards the lateral side of my foot. Not super painful, but pretty uncomfortable to walk or flex my foot upward. Not sure if this is a symptom of the mass or if its actually THE mass that's causing the discomfort. To the best of my knowledge, and after consulting my Medical books, I'm 99% sure its a Tarsal Boss; a bone spur that develops where the two bones join. I've researched the topic quite a bit and know that as of right now, I'm thinking the best course of action would be surgery.
I wanted to get opinions or information, if anyone's ever had or experienced a Tarsal Boss. Alternative treatment options, recovery time after surgery, are you still climbing the way you used to?? Not time sensitive, just wanted to throw a rope out and see if its more common among climbers and skiers who routinely wear very tight footwear. Hoping I'm not alone lol

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
