Is anyone familiar with Bare Bluff near Copper Harbor in the UP? Has anyone climbed there or have any FA's on it? How tall is that wall?

Cheers.

PS: This is not my photo. I just googled it for reference.

Find a guy named Mike that worked at Tech.  DWS in Houghton might be able to point you to him.  He may or may not give you the info you are seeking. Thus, just go and find out (also rumored to have a lovely ice line on it in the late season formed via snow melt...)

Ha! I have been wondering the same thing for a few years here... you can easily see this crag on Google Earth... Wow.... that water looks very soothing for me today... it's 90F and quite humid out today...

I'll give DWS a call and see if they have any beta on Bare Bluff. It's been a few years since I've been to the UP but lately, I've been feeling the call to go back and visit.

I see that the whole place is encompassed in the Russell and Miriam Grinnell Memorial Nature Sanctuary so climbing is most likely off-limits there. The rock looks exactly like Porkies Rock to me in the photos of the place on the RaMGMNS web site. Get to the site from Google Map link located nearby the crag location on map.

Unfortunately quite chossy. Norwich Ledge, Silver Mountain and Cliffs Drive would be better options

Have you climbed Bare Bluff before?

That may be true but that's not always the case with nature preserves. There are some nature preserve parks that allow climbing.
