free/cheap camping near lake george?

Anyone know anything about the free first come first served camping along Shelving Rock Rd (the dirt road on the way to the crag)? And/or anyone have recommendations for climber-friendly camping (ie no RVs!) by Lake George? Never been but I'm heading up next week!

As someone who lives in a tourist area with a low rate of covid-19 infection, it seems inappropriate for people from areas with high rates of covid  infection  to come  visit. 

To do list: not climb at Shelving Rock next weekend

Tons of people motor boat out there but those are just people partying and sunbathing. I assume TA is confusing Shelving Rock with Rogers Rock.

I have camped on shelving rock road at one of the spots you speak of, it is pretty nice. Really close to the crag, and free. That being said I imagine they fill up quick on the weekends. I got there on a Friday night though and I was the only one camping, but that was a few months ago. You could also basically hike down any trail and Backcountry camp as long as you are following NYS ADK guidelines.
