Jimmy Chin's story on rope severed between him and partner

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and desperately need some information I cannot find. Once, I have heard Jimmy Chin telling a story of the rope being cut between him and his partner unbeknownst to them. They only realized that they were climbing (traversing?) without protection when they pulled on the rope when one of them came off belay and the severed rope fell... Can somebody point me somewhere where I can find some more info on this event (when, where, who etc)
Thank you, Ferenc

I was his partner and the one on lead.  I believe Mark Synott and Jimmy talk about it on some Nat Geo interview that is online.  We were on a photo shoot in Oman when it happened.  I can post up the whole story and photo tomorrow.

Mikey,

this is the internet.  First person accounts only serve to hamper all the rumor and speculation.  What the hell, go ahead and ruin our day!

Wow,

That is what I call perfect welcome. This was my first post on the forum... Mikey, thank you for the most authentic and perfect info possible.
Funny enough I thought it was you Mikey, but even after typing your name and Jimmy Chin's into google along with "cut rope" no results.
Regardless, I really appreciate the quick response, and I hope to never experience anything like a cut rope in my humble weekend climbing adventures.

Damn, I imagine the pucker factor upon that realization had to be massive! Looking forward to the story!
