“Warm Showers” but for climbers... is that a thing?

Does this exist? Obviously, those wanting to host strangers in their home following a global pandemic can always turn to CouchSurfing, but Warm Showers is nice because you know the people really value the bed (or shower), they’re in the middle of doing something rad, and you have a common sporting interest to talk about.

I’m picturing a Warm Showers for the traveling van life climber crowd.

Why should we be interested whether #vanlyfe people smell or not? Start with the real homeless, you've plenty of them.

I never shower when van lifeing.  I do stay perfectly clean by swimming every day. The only place so far that  we couldn't do that was  COR. that place is dry.. You can however lie on the ground under the water spigot at the visitor center. Last weekend.

I got my hair clean ;)

I think there may be some confusion about what the OP is talking about. Warmshowers.org is a website that connects touring cyclists with free temporary housing to sleep, shower, and rest after riding all day. Usually the people offering a room or tent site are also touring cyclists or have been in the past.

I have been a host to cyclists in the past through warmshowers. It has been positive so far but I am selective about who I accept.

There are easier ways to get iced coffee...

Regarding COR, go one better than a "warm" shower and pop for the hot springs! It's just glorious to soak in hot water, and nice to swim, too. If all you want is a shower, Tracy's offers showers now. I haven't driven up there yet, but pretty sure there's a lake up towards Pomerelle, and FS camping.

When I wanna wash my hair, I just warm up some water. Not all that difficult.

We didn't host him, someone on couch surfing did, but we did climb with a guy a few years back who was a climber...and a bikepacker. He had two years, open ended, to go all over, including maybe to Patagonia.

we found the lake by that ski area. its a pretty big haul from COR about 1.5hrs?   shared hot springs are gross and 8 bucks a day is untenable on a long trip, the faucet gets you pretty clean.

The hot springs in Almo are drained and filled daily, just so you know. And I don't shower every day at home, lol! My knees love the hot water, and a swim is a nice break when it's hot.

Lots of options, we agree on that, I think. I don't think I'll be breaking ice to "swim", though! My association with ice is vertical, plenty of layers, and spiky stuff!

That woodwork in your van is just beautiful, by the way, wherever that was posted. I'd forgotten about ramps! I've collected miners lettuce, and the odd handful of wild berries, but that's it.

Best, Helen

Someone gets it. Yes, that is the warmshowers I was referring to. We've hosted a number of Couchsurfers, but it's a different experience. Not sure that we'd prefer to host climbers, but it would be cool if there was the option.

Basically this! But on a larger scale, akin to what warmshowers.org is doing. My guess is that this doesn't exist yet...

Golden Colorado has a Warm Showers chapter... I think they truncated the name a bit to make it more... common.  : - ) Whatever you do, don't Google it.

Yeah, "Golden Colorado Warm Showers" was too long, so they shortened it up to just include the pertinent info: city and the amenity they're offering. They're having a hell of a time with SEO, though. They can't seem to get onto the first page of Google results.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
