Indoor Crack Training

I built a roof crack consisting of 2 x 6's and some semi textured (with shark grip) paint that I've been training on.  I'm using the Ocun crack gloves, but am still starting to get gobies / open sores on the top of my hands.  Is this a matter of too much training or will my skin build up over time?

Kind of new to those whole extensive crack training thing, hence the crack system woody.  Rest my skin or tape / bandage up and go?

I think it depends on your skin, but anytime I get really bad gobies, I’ve had to stop for at least a few days while it healed because mine kept ripping back open. One solution that worked okay for me was putting band aids over them so there was some padding and extra protection, but nothing that would stick to it and rip it back open. If that doesn’t work, my best guess would be to take a few days off for it to heal. Also, hopefully they should give you less of a problem as your technique improves. I’ve found that the more solid my jams are, the less often I get gobies. Hopefully yours heal up quickly!

Lose the grip tape. Sanded wood will be much kinder to your skin. The jams will feel harder because you won't be able to hang on your skin as much, but that's kind of the point right?

I put just a little shark grip in the paint mixture (very little) as I heard grip tape and other solutions are super harsh on your gloves / hands and tear your shoes apart.  thanks for the advice and if it becomes an issue I'll throw another coat of paint on (without the grip).

I’ve found that putting a piece of tape on my hand under the mesh part of the Ocuns seems to help. The OR crack gloves worked better for me indoors.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
